The wine shows a deep red, but the Grenache has tempered the Tannat's inky black. Lifted aromas of cherry and herbs, very Rhône-like, very Grenache. The Tannat shows itself with an earthy undertone. Again, Rhône like flavors on the palate, showing how well this unlikely duo plays together. The Tannat grounds the Grenache, which can be over the top sometimes. The wine finishes with a flourish from the Tannat, all earth and acidity, and in this instance, the Grenache moderates the sometimes fierce tannins of the Tannat. Lovely.
