Con Azucar Café in Downtown Hayward is finally open! They just opened on Thursday and came here for a late lunch to check them out. I originally ordered two small drinks, a torta, one concha and mini puerquito (puerquitito?). But they gave me a regular pig and threw in a mini almond cookie! After I got most of my order, they even offered me another free drink! 😳 They either made it in error or someone didn’t claim it. Needless to say, I’m glad I tipped them well already! All the pastries were delicious! My favorite was the concha, which was soft, then the pig, which wasn’t as soft as I’m used to. The almond cookie was good as well. As far as drinks, my favorite was the mazapan frappe (with oat milk), then the iced horchata matcha latte. The strawberries con crema was okay. The strawberry flavor wasn’t strong enough for me, so I’m glad This was my free drink. The torta de jamon was really good! It was really filling. With everything else I got, I could only eat half of the torta! Definitely worth the visit! They’re still working on some kinks, but for it only being their second day, I think they’ll do pretty well. The place looks great and they did a great job with the decor. A nice mural, a photo opp wall, and a decent amount of seats. It’s in a good location on the corner of B St. and Foothill. So it’s close to the garage and the open parking lot. I really like this addition to DTH!
