An Americano is a coffee drink made by adding hot water to 2 (small) -4 (large) shots of espresso. It has a flavor & strength similar to drip coffee but with a smoother, richer profile, and unlike a latte, it contains no milk. It is believed to have originated during World War II when American soldiers in Italy diluted their strong espressos to mimic the drip coffee they were used to at home.

A breve latte, or café breve, is an espresso drink made with steamed half-and-half instead of milk, resulting in a richer, creamier & denser texture than a traditional latte. This substitution makes it naturally sweeter, often eliminating the need for added sugar.

A cappuccino is a hot coffee drink made with equal parts espresso, steamed milk, & milk foam. It is known for its balanced & creamy texture, with a stronger coffee flavor than a latte due to the higher proportion of foam.

A caramel macchiato is a coffee drink made with steamed milk, vanilla syrup, espresso, and a caramel drizzle on top. The espresso is added last, or "macchiato" (meaning "marked") which "marks" the steamed milk & the caramel is a finishing drizzle rather than a mixed-in syrup.

It is a milkier drink than a cappuccino or a macchiato, which have different ratios of espresso to milk and foam. A latte can be customized with different types of milk (including non-dairy options), added flavorings & can be served hot or cold.

A cortado is a Spanish espresso-based drink made with equal parts espresso & steamed milk. The name comes from the Spanish word "cortar," meaning "to cut" because the milk cuts through the acidity of the espresso. This results in a small, balanced drink with a stronger coffee flavor than a latte but less bitter than a straight shot of espresso.
