Champagne Doquet is based in Vertus, a premier cru village in the Côte des Blancs, an area revered for its chalk-rich soils and its role as the spiritual home of Chardonnay in Champagne.Pale straw in the glass, with a fine, persistent bead. The nose opens with lemon curd, white blossom, fresh linen, tart green pear, ginger flower, and crushed chalk, buoyed by subtle notes of almond skin, fresh Croissants Aux Amandes, and sea breeze vibes. Not really a white or an orange, so we'll call it an amber wine. Juice is rested with skins for a few days before fermentation starts giving just a touch of the nutty and dried fruit you get from an orange without it overwhelming the cup. It's an easy drinker with notes of white flowers and dried nectarine.
