Divided Sky
Winemaker Alek Ajder and his wife Megan Granata are originally from Milford, Connecticut. After studying Political Science at UCONN, Alek started working in restaurants and in 2008 went to Sommelier school in Manhattan. He worked as a Sommelier at Joseph’s Steakhouse in Bridgeport, Connecticut and at The Oval Room in Washington. D.C.
“In 2008 Megan and I started vacationing in the Finger Lakes. We’d return every couple of years, and eventually we decided that we would like to move to the Finger Lakes and try our hands at growing grapes and making wine. So in the summer of 2015 we started looking at land here.” After searching for about a year, they found 15 acres of property that met all their criteria and seemed to be meant for them.
Located by Keuka Lake's Bluff, clouds can frequently be seen rolling in, creating a 'Divided Sky'.
Fun Fact: Alek enjoys the band Phish who has a song of the same name. :)
Dr. Konstantin Frank
Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery is the pioneer of the Eastern United States vinifera movement. Situated on the southwestern hills of Keuka Lake, it was there in 1957 that Dr. Konstantin Frank planted the first vinifera vines in the Eastern United States and ignited the “Vinifera Revolution”. This movement would forever change the course of winemaking in New York. Four generations strong, the Frank family are leaders of grape growing and winemaking throughout the Finger Lakes.
Dr. Konstantin Frank fell in love with a special property on Keuka Lake for its exceptional characteristics – shale-based soils and steep slopes. With decades of knowledge and experience, he successfully planted the first European grape varieties in our home vineyard in 1958. Many of these Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir vines are still in production to this day and they represent some of the oldest vines in America.

Dr. Frank Celebre
This Non Vintage (NV) Cremant style sparkling wine is made from 100% hand harvested Riesling grapes. Aged using 'Méthode Champenoise' (in bottle) for a minimum of 24 months in Dr. Frank's famous underground cellar. Medium-sweet.$28.00
Dr. Frank Rkatsiteli
Pronounced: “r-kat-see-TELL-ee” A Georgian grape variety that dates back to 3000 B.C. and the oldest known grape variety in the world. Rkatsiteli is an aromatic adventure. The nose is pronounced and layered: tropical fruit, ripe pear, stone fruit, citrus zest with a subtle but intriguing peppery edge that surprises many first-time drinkers. On the palate, lively acidity balances its touch of residual sugar, creating a wine that feels both vibrant and refreshing. If this is your first time with Rkatsiteli, think of it as a meeting point between Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc: aromatic, energetic, and food-friendly. Serve well chilled and allow it a moment in the glass to reveal its complexity.$27.00
Dr. Frank Saperavi
An ancient grape variety native to the country of Georgia, it was first brought to the Finger Lakes by Dr. Konstantin Frank himself in the early 1960s. One of the few grapes that has color inside AND out (flesh and skins) that leads to deep hues. Aged in French oak, full bodied, bold tannins, long finish - this wine is made to age but also delicious to enjoy now.$37.00
Element
Element Winery came about in 2009 by the multi-talented Christopher Bates - Master Sommelier, Winemaker & Executive Chef. There are less than 300 Master Sommeliers IN THE WORLD and we are lucky enough to have one here in the Finger Lakes pushing the definition of what's possible in our extreme climate. With freezing winters and hot summers, wines here take time to evolve into their full potential. Thus, Element wines always flaunt older than average vintages.
Element Can't Stop Won't Stop WHITE
57% Chardonnay & 43% Riesling Only 188 cases produced! A unique blend of Riesling and Chardonnay, this wine is fresh and bright with lemon, green and yellow apples, mandarin, with beeswax, camomile and hay on the nose. The palate is at once both rich and focused, with laser like acidity running down the mid palate. Christopher’s Notebook: While this may seem like an odd blend, it just comes down to context and what we are used to. In fact, I think blends like this are a really important part of the development of any new region. Hands down, I would argue that Riesling and Chardonnay are the two best white grapes of our region, so, as we look to make regionally appropriate blends, we can’t always look outwards at what others have done, but, rather inwards at what we can. 2022 was our first vintage of a white blend, but, look for the blend to expand greatly in coming vintages!$25.00Element Can't Stop Won't Stop RED
Estate Grown Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/Pinot Noir/Syrah Bright, fresh and juicy, this wine is lifted in all the right ways! This wine shows red and black fruits, herbs and spice, all leaping from the glass. The palate is light and ethereal, with freshness from acid, a touch of grip from tannins, and a delightfully low impression of alcohol. After hand harvesting, this wine was carefully sorted by hand to obtain pristine fruit, which was partially destemmed (by variety), and fermented in individual lots before basket pressing in aging in our antique puncheons. The wine spent 18 months in barrel, followed another 12 resting in tank before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, and rested for a further year in bottle.$30.00
Element 'In Our Element' Syrah
Light, fresh elegant style of Syrah made from young vines. Fruit forward, with spicy, herbal elements framing the red fruit focused wine. The palate is elegant, crisp and fresh on the palate. *Christopher’s Notebook: "Syrah is our infatuation here, and while the style of Element is always dense, earthy, meaty and concentrated, this IOE Syrah, is lighter, fresher and brighter, and is a great entry into Finger Lakes Syrah." -pulled from Element's website$32.00
Forge
Location: Southeast Seneca Lake.
Simply put, Forge makes wine in the traditional, handcrafted manner. They harvest by hand. They sort by hand. They load the grapes into the press by hand. We shovel the vats out by hand. They employ spontaneous fermentation and ferment in very tiny lots, so that they truly understand the expression of the vineyard each year. Using very low levels of sulphur, they ferment their Rieslings bone dry, and do not fine or filter their red wines.
Indigenous yeast fermentations proceed very slowly- not in Spring, but in the Summer after the vintage, they are finally able to move toward bottling the wines. Once fermentations are complete, their team begins diligently tasting through barrels and tanks, giving each a detailed rating and review, and writing personal tasting notes. Small batch winemaking - hundreds of separate, small French barriques from more than a dozen different vineyards, each with its own story and personality.

Forge Pinot Noir - Classique
Similar to the ‘Village’ level of French winemaking, 5 different vineyard sites along Seneca Lake were utilized to produce this harmonious, yet distinct, expression of cool-climate Pinot Noir.$29.00
Forge Pinot Noir - Caywood
Bottled Unfined & Unfiltered from vines planted in 2018 along the shallow, shale driven soils of Seneca Lake. Aged in 20% New and 80% Neutral Oak for 12 months along with 2 months in Stainless Steel.$35.00
Forge Riesling - Classique
A living portrait of South East Seneca Lake, from a collection of sites together shape its identity. Within a narrow stretch of land, gravelly loam, clay, shale, and limestone converge, each contributing to a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts. Naming the wine 'classique' is a nod to 'village' level wine making in France.$25.00
Forge Riesling - Railroad
The terroir of Railroad Vineyard (Lodi - Seneca) tends to give Riesling power, richness, and texture - resembling the same sort of locomotion carried through the site in the days of the Lehigh Valley Railroad: Heavy, Dense, Gravelly Loam soil.$28.00

Heart & Hands Verve Chardonnay
The definition of Verve is vivacious; lively; full of energy, zest, and sparkle; Heart & Hands' fresh and austere expression of Chardonnay. This Chardonnay is fermented in both stainless steel and oak to coax out the freshness of this noble grape. Crafted from fruit grown on two vineyards: The cooler climate Hobbit Hollow Farm (Skaneateles) which offers freshness and balance, and the warmer climate Nutt Road Vineyard (West Seneca) which offers luscious stone fruit and decadence. Handpicked grapes were pressed at cool temperatures and left to settle overnight. The Chardonnay juice was divided between stainless steel (32%) and French oak barrels (68%) for a primary fermentation lasting an average of 76 days, followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The barrel-fermented wine was aged on the lees for 10 months, producing a tantalizing mouthfeel. Delicate aromas and flavors mingle harmoniously in this vibrant, elegant wine.$30.00

Hermann Wiemer Flower Day Riesling
This highly acclaimed, prestigious Demeter-Certified Biodynamic wine was the first in Hermann Wiemer's exploration of biodynamic farming practices. Living Roots
Keuka Lake
Living Roots highlights the best of the owners' (Sebastian & Colleen Hardy) hometowns and their surrounding wine regions. From two different corners of the globe: Rochester, New York and Adelaide, South Australia.
Though Living Roots was founded in 2016, their legacy began six generations back with Thomas Hardy, Seb’s great-great-great grandfather. In 1850, at the age of 20, Thomas immigrated to the new British colony, Australia. He soon planted the Hardy family’s first grape vines and jumpstarted 150+ years of family winemaking.
They opened the Living Roots urban winery and tasting room in Rochester in 2017. The Finger Lakes winery and tasting room officially opened in the fall of 2023 and sits on Colleen's family’s Shale Creek vineyard overlooking Keuka Lake.

This vintage also presents some wonderful tropical qualities, unveiling juicy notes of pineapple and kiwi. This Seyval is tangy, bright, and wonderfully crisp. It also softens on the back end of the palate leaving you with a delightfully clean mouthfeel.
