It is a beautiful mother-daughter story that weaves together two timelines, poetically intersecting them at the perfect moment in the novel. Literary fiction fans will not be disappointed. I also enjoyed learning more about Cuba, as part of the story is set there in the 1950s, which added such a rich layer to the novel.
