Behind the Scenes Tour
BOOK YOUR TOUR TODAY! Take a trip through North Carolina’s rich, undiscovered, bourbon soaked history. We’ll explore the entire distilling process from grain to glass, and then offer you a sampling of our award-winning Southern Star Bourbons and Rye Whiskeys. Following your tour, you can purchase Southern Star bottles of your own to take home. If you can stay awhile longer, visit our cocktail bar and enjoy a drink in the Speakeasy. You’ll leave with a new awareness of the previously untold history of North Carolina whiskey production, new knowledge about how spirit are made, and a new appreciation for our fine North Carolina spirits. There's a reason Southern Distilling Company was named the 2025 Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute. Come see for yourself! ABOUT US We’re proud to be located in Statesville, North Carolina. Founded in 2013 by husband and wife, Pete and Vienna Barger, Southern Distilling Company exemplifies the bold spirit of America’s innovative craft spirits industry. Before Prohibition, Statesville was known as the “Liquor Capital of the World”. Today, it is home to our 20-acre campus with our state-of-the-art 36,000 square foot distillery, where we spend our days distilling the highest quality bourbon and rye whiskeys, watching over the 70,000+ barrels aging in our rick houses, taking care of our adorable mini donkeys, and hosting visitors from all over the world.
