Join us for a five-course dinner with Elia Germano, who oversees vineyard management at his family’s estate, Ettore Germano, and works alongside his sister Maria in the cellar and their parents, Sergio and Elena. The winery is named for Elia’s grandfather Ettore, who grew grapes, made a little wine for private customers, and was known throughout the area for his skill at grafting vines. Elia’s father, Sergio, studied enology in Alba and worked at Fontanafredda before returning to the family estate in 1993.
The evening opens with three traditional-method sparklers: the 2021 Alta Langa Bianco, a 2017 Alta Langa Riserva Blanc de Blancs, and the Nebbiolo “Rosanna” Brut Rosato. Next comes the 2024 “Hérzu,” widely regarded as one of Italy’s finest Rieslings. From there, we move into Serralunga with the 2022 Barolo Serralunga, the 2021 Prapò, and the 2017 Lazzarito. The night closes with a rare vertical of Barolo Cerretta from 2000, 2010, and 2020, spanning three decades from the family’s original home vineyard.
