Almost 40 years ago, Jim and Melissa started The Broken Egg with a couple of kids (Adam and Ashley) on Avenida Messina in the Village of Siesta Key. After a few years, the space was outgrown and a deal was cut with Anna's Deli to switch locations and move to Avenida Madera. A few years later it was time for a rest. Then the folks got restless, had another kid (Edward) and The Serving Spoon was created on Osprey Avenue in Southside Village. After six years in that location, the itch took them to Vermont...Jim's home (Melissa grew up on Siesta Key) After seven long, dark winters, the Palermo's have returned and set up shop at The Oasis Cafe. We thank you for your patronage today and for those folks that sat on the steps and drank coffee waiting for a seat in the Original Broken Egg, joined the community Table at the Egg on Messina, or watched us grown on Osprey Avenue at The Spoon. We thank you for many years of continuous support.
