Meet The Maker Dinner Experiences
Join us for a special evening celebrating the artistry and stories of Pacific Northwest basket makers Leslie Burtt and Chris Warren. This intimate “Meet the Maker” dinner brings together art, nature, and cuisine in a unique four-course experience inspired by the landscapes that shape their work. Guests Welcome at 5pm to meet and mingle with the artist. Dinner starting at 5:30PM Leslie Burtt, a Pacific Northwest native, draws deeply from her surroundings—hiking, camping, and foraging materials throughout the Mount Hood and Columbia River Gorge regions. Her baskets incorporate naturally shed antlers, black cherry bark, reeds, and grasses, creating sculptural vessels that honor the earliest forms of human craftsmanship. Her work is both a tribute to tradition and a reflection of the land itself. Chris Warren, originally from Seattle and now based in Portland, discovered her passion for basketry through early classes at a local art center. What began as curiosity quickly became a lifelong pursuit. While she has taught extensively, her true passion lies in weaving and expanding the boundaries of her craft. Each year, she gathers natural materials—bark, kelp, driftwood—through explorations of the Pacific Northwest’s coastal and mountain landscapes. Chris is a member of the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild and has been featured in 50 Baskets by Lark Press. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a thoughtfully curated four-course dinner inspired by Pacific Northwest ingredients and the spirit of foraging that defines both artists’ work. Leslie and Chris will share insights into their creative process, materials, and the stories behind their baskets and gourds. FIRST COURSE Warm farro, charred spring vegetables, herbs and cider-braised leek vinaigrette, topped with crispy shallots SECOND COURSE Wild salmon on sautéed greens with smoked onion crema and lemon THIRD COURSE Osso Buco with soft polenta and bright herb gremolata: Slow-braised lamb shank with rosemary, garlic and white wine, served over polenta FOURTH COURSE Hazelnut torta with marionberry compote and mascarpone crema ALL COURSES THOUGHTFULLY PAIRED WITH SPECIALTY WINES FROM OUR CELLAR This is a rare opportunity to connect with two remarkable artists in an intimate setting where art and cuisine intertwine.
