Founded by Chef Humayun Zadran — former restaurateur from Kabul and refugee to the U.S. — Zadran's Kitchen is built on a passion for reviving traditional Afghan recipes and sharing them with new communities. Our story began at the farmers markets of Northern Virginia, where engaging with neighbors taught us the true value of a local food ecosystem. Today, that mission has found a permanent home in the heart of Fredericksburg. We source directly from the farmers, butchers, and artisans we stood alongside at the markets — prioritizing local ingredients from the Rappahannock region. Our menu is a collaboration between Afghan heritage and local soil, evolving with the seasons just as traditional Afghan cooking always has. The best food doesn't just taste good. It does good.
