About

Zen Japanese Izakaya: A Slice of Japan in the Heart of River Oaks Established in 2016, Zen Japanese Izakaya is an authentic, Japanese-owned and operated gem in Houston. Our space strikes the perfect balance between modern Japanese aesthetics and a cozy, "home away from home" vibe. We pride ourselves on serving premium sushi—crafted by experienced Japanese chefs using fresh catches flown in from Japan’s fish markets—all at approachable prices. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bento or noodle lunch, or settling in for an evening of Izakaya-style small plates and world-class sushi, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped straight into Tokyo without leaving Houston.
