    Nestled within the vibrant Sky Deck at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center, Zen Modern Asian Bistro is a heartfelt expression of one family’s passion for sharing the joy of cooking. Since opening its doors in April 2016, Zen has blended the bold creativity of Asian fusion with the deep-rooted flavors of traditional cuisine—especially authentic Taiwanese dishes—to deliver the best of both worlds to every table. At the helm is Executive Chef Henry Yang, a Taiwan native with over 40 years of culinary experience. His journey spans renowned kitchens across Thailand and China’s major culinary regions, where he refined his craft and developed a deep appreciation for regional techniques. Among his accomplishments is the creation of the celebrated Mr. Charlie’s Fortune Cookie, a testament to his innovative spirit and lasting impact on Asian cuisine.
