Winemaker Notes Cabernet Sauvignon grows in ideal conditions on the Hickinbotham Vineyard thanks to the combined influence of elevation, aspect, prevailing winds, weather and ancient soils. The ability to consistently retain expressive and fragrant aromas and obtain deep tannin ripeness with concentrated fresh flavors makes Trueman one of the estate’s most highly regarded wines. Trueman evokes aromas of ripe blackberries and bittersweet chocolate with hints of rose petal and wild sage. This transitions to an impeccably balanced palate with black plum notes and a fresh acidity interlaced with velvety tannins leading to a long memorable finish.

Champagne of mind-bending complexity, the 2013 possesses tremendous mid-palate intensity and power from the very first taste. Lemon confit, dried flowers, mint and a touch of brioche appear first, followed by light tropical accents that add an exotic flair. Imagine the sizzling energy of the 2008 and the persistence of 2004, with more mid-palate richness and riper fruit. Two-thousand thirteen was a cool, late ripening year. Harvest started at the beginning of October under sunny, dry days and cool nights, conditions that have not been seen since then. Readers will find a spectacular, modern Salon endowed with tremendous depth and very little of the youthful austerity that once defined Champagnes from cooler years here. The 5.5 grams per liter of dosage is perfectly judged. In a word: Magnificent.

The Jeio line is inspired by the influential Desiderio Bisol, whose wife lovingly referred to him as Jeio. The father of the current generation of Bisol, Desiderio was dedicated to product quality, acquiring only the steepest plots. While considerably more difficult to work, these plots are ideal for vine cultivation. As a result of his vision, the Glera cultivated in these vineyards is especially rich in malic acid, making the final wine more dynamic and evolved. Glera sourced for the Prosecco Brut comes from vineyards in the DOC area just outside Valdobbiadene, taking advantage of the altitude and unique character.

Winemaker Notes The Jeio DOC Rosé is the blend of Glera and Pinot Nero. It has a delicate pink color reminiscent of pink coral or a dream Venetian dawn characterized by a fine, creamy and persistent perlage. On the nose it releases refined notes of rose, lily of the valley, touches of fresh citrus fruit, a slight vinosity and is evocative of wild strawberries. On the palate it is fine, complex and inviting. It has great sapidity and is compact and pleasingly quaffable.

91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The very young and juicy 2020 Evodia comes from a year with more rain than average and moderately warm temperatures that resulted in an early harvest of a generous crop that delivered wines of lower alcohol (14.5%) and more freshness. It fermented with some 20% full clusters and had a very soft vinification and extraction with no pump-overs. This is always very aromatic (it's what the name means), and in 2020 it's even paler and more ethereal then the 2019 that was already impressive and quite a change from previous vintages and other wines from the cooperative. Only 20% of the volume matured in oak and the wine is not oaky at all and has contained ripeness and very light extraction. This is bright and elegant, fresh and very pleasant to drink. Incredible for the price.

The vintage conditions were perfect and the wines able to achieve exceptional quality. Here, the Tempranillo is joined by 3% Garnacha, which provides additional brightness to juicy layers of red berry, cigar, and dried herb, with a foundation of supple tannins. Medium-bodied, the oak is well-integrated, interweaving the lilting spice and toast notes from a combination of French and American barrels that aged the wine for 14-16 months. 95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The varietal 2021 Amelia Pinot Noir was produced with grapes from Quebrada Seca in Limarí on colluvial soils with limestone. It fermented with around 40% full clusters (this has grown) in open-top vats and matured in Burgundy oak barrels, 18% of them new, for one year. It has 13.9% alcohol and a pH of 3.7. 2021 was a cooler year, and the wine shows it, even if the coastal part of Limarí cushions the effect of the warmer years (like 2020, which was a lot less warm here than in inland parts of Chile; I retasted the 2020 to check the evolution, which is great). It's crunchy and has the nervosity from the stems, floral, perfumed and elegant. It is textured and fresh, varietal, bright and young. Rating: 95+

This is full-bodied and rich, nicely balancing richness and texture against linear shape and focus and picking up hints of blueberries and spice on the long, mouthwatering finish. With 112 barrels having been bottled, there's a fair bit of this wine to go around, if one can afford it.

On the palate this is full-bodied and remarkably polished, with absolutely incredible overall balance and structure. Dunn's wines are always one of the finest examples of Cabernet from Napa, and there is certainly no exception with this utterly brilliant wine. 96 points, Jim Gordon, James Suckling (Jan 2025) Tasted twice, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Anakota is sourced from 32- to 35-year-old vines and has the addition of 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It saw 12 months in 30% new French oak. In the glass, it pours a deep red color and opens to aromas of black plum, polished leather, graphite, and violets. It’s full-bodied, with refined, ripe tannins, even acidity, and a graceful and long finish with hints of cocoa and dusty earth. It’s open and inviting now but has a good deal of structure underneath. Drink 2025-2045. 1500 cases were produced.

It’s another damn near perfect wine from this estate, and to see this quality from a challenging vintage like 2017 boggles the mind. TA S T I N G N O T E S In the tradition of our Swiss-Italian predecessors, we have crafted a flavorful cuvée of red grapes from the steep volcanic slopes of our Sorenson Vineyard perched high above the Napa Valley. Originally planted with vines in the 19th century, our estate vineyard yields fruit that offers a provocative harmony of aromas, flavors, and texture. The 2019 vintage brought impeccable balance to the wines of Burgess, and the Alpinist is no exception. Fresh and vibrant black and red fruit flavors take center stage behind a curtain of olive and peppercorn aromas, making this wine a veritable match for any dinner table.

Features primarily Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Syrah, alongside some Tannat, with aromas of plum, vanilla and fresh blueberries. The tannins are soft with mouth-watering acidity and showcases flavors of fresh raspberries, anise and a smattering of white pepper. Gia likes to say it’s “more feisty” compared to the Cabernet Sauvignon, and recommends pairing it with tomato-based pasta dishes, roasted vegetables (bell peppers, eggplant and squash) or chocolate-covered strawberries.

The first vintage not to be lead by Cabernet and yet this wine is super dark, but not brooding. Notes of plum and blackberry marry with earthy tones of fresh tilled soil, tar, and granite and undertones of sweet tobacco and faint hint of basil and vanilla showing up after it’s opened up a bit flowing into expressions of lilac, apricot jam, fresh raspberry and a tinge of cooked wild rice. Intoxicating to say the least. The palate opens to blackberry, tobacco, plum skin, balsamic and fresh tomato. Tannins feel supple and leathery.

Abeja Beekeeper’s Blend (2022) – Generous aromas of blackberry with cinnamon and fresh mint greet the nose and are mirrored on the plentiful palate loaded with ripe black and red fruits. Intriguing notes of licorice, black tea, and violets emerge next, building depth and complexity. This juicy blend is a deep ruby color, with a moderate body, powdery tannins, and a long-lasting finish.

100 Jeb Dunnuck Tasting like a great bottle of Château Lafite, the 2017 La Joie is based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon and brought up, I suspect, in mostly new French oak. Deep ruby/purple, with a heavenly bouquet of crème de cassis, lead pencil, cedarwood, graphite, and tobacco, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, an incredible sense of elegance and purity, building tannins, and a great, great finish. This majestic, regal Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is going to require a decade of cellaring to hit maturity (although it’s far from unapproachable today) and will see its 50th birthday in fine form. I followed this bottle for three days and it never showed a hint of oxidation. This is easily my wine of the vintage in 2017.

It's going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and shine for two decades.

WE 91 Blackberry, cherry, soy and hints of damp oak show on the lush nose of this bottling. Soft tannins make for a voluptuous palate, where roasted black cherry and smoky oak leads to a familiar caramel-laced finished. — Matt Kettmann

Tasting Note This Porto has an opulent black fruit nose that carries through on the palate in layers of intense, sweet berry, plum and cherry fruit flavors supported by firm but well-integrated tannins. This is a deliciously textured Reserve Porto—velvety, smooth, succulent and plump.

94 Decanter In 2018, Andrea Costanti used fewer tonneaux than usual, opting instead for larger, less oxidative casks, a significant portion of which were new. This lends some oak nuances but doesn’t detract. Aromas of exotic spice, violet and chestnut are amplified by a touch of volatile acidity. Those dark purple floral notes carry through to the palate, which brags lovely weight with balanced proportions and mouthwatering, citrussy acidity. The tannins are weighing down the finish right now, but give this another year or so to come together and it should be a joy to drink.

Winemaker Notes This vintage is a bit closed on the nose at a young age, it needs to breathe in the glass to reach its rich aromatic complexity. It recalls the Mediterranean scrub and its essences, strawberry tree, juniper but also earthy and humus notes. Its complex nuances identify its belonging to the terroir of origin. In the mouth the tannins are perfectly integrated, and their maturity accompanies the natural length of the wine on the palate, where freshness and depth stay in the foreground. Excellent salinity, not intrusive, which gives good length and persistence to the nose. Pair with Bolognese and other meat sauce pastas, grilled pork and beef, and roasts. Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot

The nose is complex: notes of ripe plums, blackberries and candied orange peels lead to pleasant hints of dark chocolate, caramel, and licorice. Sweet hints of tobacco complete the impressive bouquet. The palate is rich, sophisticated, intense and is defined by supple vibrant tannins followed by a long persistent finish. Winemaker Notes A rich and elegant Brunello, both in structure and in olfactory expression. Brilliant ruby red with garnet-colored reflections, on the nose the aroma is sweet and fruity, the hints of fresh red fruit stand out, which combine perfectly with the more complex notes of licorice and pipe tobacco. The structure is powerful, and the palate is pleasantly enveloped by a consistent tannic texture, well balanced by a pleasant acidity. Extremely persistent with excellent aging potential. It pairs particularly well with rich and tasty dishes. Perfect as a meditation wine.

On the nose, Sassoalloro Oro offers a rich and varied bouquet: notes of ripe red fruits blend with spicy sensations and slight hints of tobacco and chocolate, resulting from careful maturation in barrique. 97 Decanter The wine is tightly coiled and concentrated. It feels almost cinched at the waist, with a fascinating tension between the weight of raspberry, blackberry and strawberry coulis fruit and the wine's verticality, as if it's trying to burst out. Lovely mid-palate sapidity is allied to fresh acidity and fine but dense tannins, making for a dark horse of a Sassicaia that isn't giving much away today but will greatly reward those who can cellar it for 12 years and more. ‘What is sure is that 2022 will need a lot of time, but will also have a long life,’ said Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta. A hot vintage, 2022 caused the team to work in the newly completed refrigerated warehouses in San Guido, even moving the sorting table inside. Shorter macerations and 23 rather than the more typical 24 or 25 months of ageing in wood helped to maximise the freshness.

Winemaker Notes #49 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2024 Santa Cristina Rosso 2022 is ruby red with violet hues. Fruity and floral aromas dominate the nose with notes of cherries, mixed berries and violets that meet hints of vanilla, cocoa, and coffee and aromas of green peppers and boxwood typical of Cabernet. The palate is mouth filling, supple with a pleasant fruity aftertaste.

Winemaker Notes The intense ruby red color is a prelude to ample aromas of ripe cherries and wild berries, well blended with spicy notes that give the wine class and complexity. Round, distinctly harmonious and vibrant on the palate, it shows depth and perfect tannins.

98 Decanter The drought and heat of 2022 pushed vines in Tuscany to their limits, and the outcome in many cases are wines of density and concentration but with a vein of freshness – and that's exactly what we see here in the 2022 Solaia. It opens with cool aromas of damp earth, woodland berries, red fruit coulis and a waft of balsamic herbs. In the mouth it is immediately very fleshy, almost voluptuous but holding its shape. Balsam-infused black cherry and dark berries are deepened by chocolatey wood, while succulent acidity brings out the top end and leads to a long, bright, energetic and fresh finish which is full of promise for the future.

96 James Suckling This has aromas of tar, violets, cherries, orange rind and a touch of aniseed. Medium- to full-bodied with a firm tannin structure that seems to recede toward the finish. The fruit is juicy, tender, pretty and refined. It should be more evident once the tannins mellow out. Exciting. Better from 2030.

Winemaker Notes Deep garnet color, very typical of the Valmaggiore bottlings. Roses, red cherries and spiced blood orange with red grapefruit peel dominate the aromas. On the palate, lots of spicy red cherries and floral notes, with good length and very fresh acidity. The ripe tannins give a good medium-bodied structure, and the wine is light on its feet. The finish shows length with mineral and earthy notes under the fruit and freshness. A few years of patience will be amply rewarded.

An extremely gastronomic version of Cerasuolo which we like very much for its meaty peppery notes. An intriguing wine with an extraordinary vital energy based on wild fruits, wild strawberries, mulberry and pomegranate. In the mouth the wine reflects its olfactory impressions and thus we happily re-encounter the black pepper mixed with carob and sweet cherries. Quick on the palate with a very savoury rounded finish with hints of mulberry. In the right season, perfect with a slice of seared tuna, with chopped mushrooms or with feathered game, its harmony with pizza is a surprise throughout the year. 96 Decanter Review Date: 01/2024 Warm, lush, and tannic, this wine shows an intensely ripe, plummy fruit aroma with notes of smoke and spice and impressive depth and length. It is the best Clos Vougeot I can recall having from this domaine. The Grivot family has a large parcel (1.86 hectares) at the base of the slope, which is not a highly regarded position in the Clos. Mathilde, however, has made exemplary work of it here. The carefully sorted grapes were destemmed and gently punched down during the fermentation on native yeasts.(CC)

97 Decanter Review Date: 01/2024 With its ripe, deep, plummy fruit, floral notes and abundant spice accents, the 2022 Echézeaux from Grivot is among the top wines in this cellar. The texture is rich and velvety; the finish stretches on for minutes. The grapes are from a 0.84-hectare parcel in Cruots planted in 1954. Grivot destems the grapes and ferments gently, with more pumping exclusively after the beginning of fermentation. This vintage will begin to open in five to seven years and should drink well for at least another 30.(CC)

93 Decanter Review Date: 11/2018 The deep clay soils inside this four-walled clos mean that this 3.36ha terroir never suffers in hot years like 2017, retaining sufficient moisture for the vines. This stylish, aromatic, violet-scented Pinot is wonderfully fresh and charming, with subtle whole-bunch characters and deftly applied 20% new wood. (TA)

TASTING NOTES This terroir offers a fruity and very elegant of the Pinot Noir varietal. It displays a deep ruby color and remarkably pure notes of red and black fruits. The palate is lively and spicy with a refreshing touch of menthol. This wine evolves beautifully in the bottle although its generous character makes it a pleasure to drink in its youth.

The Albert Bichot Mercurey "En Pierre Milley" 2023 is a red Burgundy wine made from 100% Pinot Noir by Domaine Adélie (the Bichot family's estate in the Côte Chalonnaise). It is a fleshy, structured, and organic wine featuring wild red and black fruit aromas.

The 2020 Louis Latour Beaune 'Vignes Franches' is a highly acclaimed, 100% Pinot Noir Premier Cru from Burgundy, France. Praised by James Suckling with 97 points, this elegant red wine is lauded for its deep Amarena cherry fruit, melted tannins, and striking aging potential.

Bressandes is highly expressive, firm, and powerful thanks to the high limestone content of its soil. Often cited as one of the very best climats on the Corton hill, it shows aromas and flavors of red and blackberry liqueur, earthiness, flowers, and herbs with powerful tannins. Corton-Bressandes will reward long aging in a cool cellar.

92 Wine Advocate Review Date: 05/2024 The 2021 Moulin-à-Vent Les Vérillats wafts pleasantly from the glass with aromas of tangy raspberries, red and black cherries, purple blossoms and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine displays a nicely concentrated fruit profile interspersed with flecks of white peppercorns, oak leaves and aniseed. Tasting Notes The wine shows a delicate profile on the nose with aromas of red flowers, cherries, and sweet herbs. The palate shows the rusticity of the appellation but with unexpected richness and texture. Aging in 25% new oak barrels brings warm notes of vanilla and spice.

It has lots of juicy cherry and cassis notes as well as lots of tobacco and cedary herbs, medium body, juicy acidity, light tannins, and a clean, classy finish.

96 Jeb Dunnuck Based on 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Lascombes pulls from 40% of the total production and was aged 18 months mostly in barrels (60% new) with a small portion in foudre. This inky hued beauty boasts a rich, concentrated, full-bodied, well-oaked style as well as pure cassis and darker berry fruits, some graphite, scorched earth, and licorice nuances, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. 94 Decanter Green peppercorns, menthol and sightly herbal aspects on the nose. Smooth and silky, a shot of bright high acidity with a balancing creamy touch to the texture. Tannins are barely there, but do give the frame which nicely carries the flavours. Really charming and fruity, great energy if not masses of weight and depth. Clean and precise fruit expression. A great effort in 2021.

Beautiful, dark, garnet-red colour. The nose is rather closed at this time. However, after a few minutes in the glass it opens up to reveal a rich, complex bouquet of red and black fruit reflecting grapes picked at just the right moment. 2015 Quintus is smooth, even creamy, on the palate, with a tight-knit tannic structure. This tannin is immediately perceptible, but in no way aggressive. The middle palate is full-bodied, and the finish is delicious and fairly long. This powerful, tasty wine is also very elegant.

From the very first nose, we're seduced by its fragrance of ripe, spicy red fruits, with the oak already perfectly integrated. Then on the palate, the wine has an impressive, silky and unctuous texture. The quality of the tannins is remarkable, as is the length on the palate, being both soft and quite fresh at the same time, despite the summer’s high temperatures. In the end, the only disappointment is the low volume produced, given the limited yields and drastic selection during blending. In fact, over 20% of the production was downgraded into a fourth selection which was sold in bulk. 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot

94 Vinous Antonio Galloni The 2019 Beauregard is powerful, deep and super-expressive. There's terrific depth and resonance here. Black cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice, dried flowers and menthol power through. This is an especially muscular style that is more about impact than subtlety. Even so, the progress here over the last few years is worth noting. The 2019 is big, bold and delicious. Tasted two times.

99 Points Jeb Dunnuck Review Date: 02/2025 Awesome levels of blackcurrants, darker cherries, roasted herbs, chocolate, and scorched earth all emerge from the 2022 Château Malartic-Lagravière, an incredibly concentrated, rich, layered beauty that has velvety tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's easily the finest I've tasted from this château and is a riveting 2022 that deserves 4-6 years in the cellar and will keep for two decades or more. The 2022 is based on 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, with the élevage spanning 20 months in 60% new French oak.

Decanter = 96 Points Ripe and filling, I love the almost instant hit of cool but juicy blue fruits and salty liquorice that expands onto the palate and settles on the finish. Tannins support the fruit, adding texture and depth to the expression, but this retains a sleek frame and direct core of flavour. Lovely energy and focus with precision. It's a little more streamlined than some others in Margaux, less bouncy, and more sleek but nicely detailed without any one element being over the top.

93 Jeb Dunnuck The 2022 Gigondas checks in as 78% Grenache, 14% Syrah, and the rest Cinsault and Mourvèdre, raised in foudres, with the Syrah in demi-muids. It's a killer effort offering beautiful darker fruits supported by some meaty, garrigue, and iron-like nuances. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, gamey, exotic, balanced Gigondas that's just about overflowing with character. I love it today, yet it has another 10-12 years of prime drinking.

93 Decanter Exciting evolution for a wine showing greater expressive, character and moreish textural appeal. Furmint's trademark linden and chamomile notes hover over fleshy blanched almonds, quince and yellow apple. A fine layer of white pepper and nutmeg adds a spicy lift. The mid palate is unctuous, with lemon curd coating the palate. This richness is offset by a fresh mineral backbone, leading to a long toasty finish.
