    • Domaine Gueugnon Redmond Macon-Charnay 2023

Located in the heart of the Mâconnais, our historic vineyard is an integral part of the region’s tourist appeal. The story begins in particular in 1660, when Claude Brosse, a merchant, brought the wines of the Mâconnais to the attention of Louis XIV. This wine-growing tradition is accompanied by an exceptional environment, between vineyards, rocks, monuments and breathtaking castles. This cuvée comes from the selection of a plot located at a place called “La Charmone”, a 25-year-old vine, on shallow soils, mainly clay-limestone, remarkable for its western exposure. The wines stay on the fine lees until bottling in April. This wine presents a greedy attack, an aromatic nose with a fruity mouth. This Mâcon Charnay “La Charmone”, in its first years, will be appreciated as an aperitif and during its maturation will accompany all kinds of terrines of vegetables, fish or cooked white meats as well as the famous small regional Mâconnais.

From the winery: Because a Gemischter Satz consists of many different varieties harvested at the same time, this dry white wine will include some unripe grapes and some overripe grapes and results in a wide range of aromas and flavors. Lemony citrus notes, herbs and white flowers co-mingle with ripe tropical flavors of melon and pineapple. Gemischter Satz is the classic wine of the Viennese heurige and is at home with simply prepared foods such as charcuterie, flavored cheese spreads, and dark bread. Fresh acidity and medium weight allow this wine to work well with grilled pork sausages and breaded white fish. Medium-spiced Asian flavors are equally compatible. Blend: 32% Grüner Veltliner, 22% Chardonnay, 12% Riesling, 10% Weissburgunder, 7% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Welschriesling, 5% Neuburger, 3% Muskateller, 1% Traminer

This bottling is dry in style, though not bone-dry, and shows Wiemer’s signature balance between purity, energy, and finesse. Expect aromas of lime, green apple, jasmine, and wet stone, with a palate that’s taut and focused, finishing with a chalky grip and whisper of salinity. • Le Puy 'Emilion' Bordeaux 2022

Château Le Puy is an estate located atop a rare high hill on Bordeaux’ right bank; it is exceptionally rare in that that it's in its 14th generation of consecutive ownership by the Amoreau family. That's not the only thing that makes this estate rare: these are classically-styled wines made with fully natural methods; certified biodynamic in their vineyards, all fermentations are native; no fining and filtering, and never SO2 before fermentation is complete. This wine is around 85% Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon completing the blend: fermented in concrete and is aged for two years in neutral wood. • Casa Piena Napa Valley 2014

"The 2014 vintage served this vineyard extremely well. Yountville is known for very open, giving wines that exude both power and grace in a balanced manner. Walking the Casa Piena estate rows, your boots sinkin to the cushioned soil and become rough-worn from all the ancient gravel that is found throughout the vineyard. Looking into the glass, the color of this wine is a nearly opaque, royal purple hue. Dynamic aromas of star anise, cassis, cedar bark, and pipe tobacco emerge from the glass. On the palate, notes of cranberry compote, cardamom, sage oil, blackberry reduction, and worn leather swell together, creating a lush, complex mouth feel. Framing the whole affair is a bracing acid backbone and complementary fine tannin structure. While showing very well now, with some cellar time this wine will evolve into an even more gracious example of what the Casa Piena estate property has to offer." — Thomas Brown, Wine Maker
