Reggae Hut Café

In 2005, Reggae Hut, a longstanding staple in Houston’s Third Ward community, was acquired and renovated. The Reggae Hut served a tempting amalgamation of Caribbean cuisines for more than nine years before operational challenges almost forced it to close its doors. The restaurant was a considerable inspiration to Davis during The Breakfast Klub’s formative stages. More importantly, Davis’ firm belief in the year-round practice of the fourth guiding principle of Kwanzaa – Ujamaa (cooperative economics) motivated him to reinvest the financial rewards realized by The Breakfast Klub in the preservation of this cultural icon.
