An entrée of these fantastic maitake mushrooms (aka hen of the woods) from Mycopia in Scottville, MI (near Ludington) are available to us year round! Creole Potlikker Fish Stew
A house made stew, that is created by taking 3-4 cuts of fish, scallops and mussels, sprinkling them with cajun/creole seasoning, and then poaching them in the juice that is collected from making the bacon-braised collard greens. This juice known as “Potlikker” comes from the fact that is so good, you practically want to lick the pot. Ari calls it the chicken soup of the south, with tons of antioxidants. We're bringing a southern tradition to you right here in Ann Arbor. You choose your meat and then pick your three sides to round out your plate. Our steaks are a pasture-raised old breed of cattle. Hand-cut, twice cooked French fries in Canola oil that are cooked golden brown to perfection. Unless otherwise noted, our fries are standardly cooked in our Gluten Free safe fryer (which dedicates nothing will go in there that has gluten) as to make sure that the fries are always gluten free to reduce any cross contamination or mix up during plating. Mashed Potatoes (V, GF)
Idaho Russet Potatoes purposely with a few of the skins left on, and hand mashed for that homemade feel. Anson Mills' Soft Grits
Anson Mills’ South Carolina grits made from Carolina Gourdseed (an older variety bred to ripen on the stalk for maximum flavor). The “germ” (which is where all the flavor is) is left intact through the milling process, the corn is protected by never letting it get above 58 degrees radically enhancing the flavor. Served topped with shredded Cabot Vermont Cheddar (or can have the cheese left off aka plain grits). Grits initially cooked with butter. (Contains Dairy, Corn)$7.00+
Bacon-Braised Collard Greens (GF)
Southern style leafy collard greens braised in bacon, ham hocks, bay leaves, black pepper, thyme, salt, onion, oregano, and water. Stewed together for 4-6 hours, these collards produce a wonderful broth known as “Potlikker”. Potlikker, as Ari calls it “The Chicken Soup of the South” has tons of antioxidants. Italy Meets San Fran
This delicious chocolate hazelnut spread made with lots of Italian hazelnuts, dark chocolate, extra virgin olive oil, and a little sugar. One of Chef Jess’ favorites.
